2001-2004 West Coast Chardonnay Issue (January 15, 2007 Issue)

When combining all the vintages by score and price, the 2004 vintage has 21 "Great Value" wines, the 2003 has 12 "Great Values", the 2002 has eight and the 2001 has two "Great Value" wines.
When comparing wines scoring 90 points or more, only 36% of the 2004 vintage wines average 90 points or above while the 2003 vintage has 31%, the 2002 vintage has 29% and the 2001 vintages has only 28%. In terms of the average price for a 90 scoring wine, the 2004 vintage averages $32, the 2003 averages $37, the 2002 averages $38 and the 2003 vintage averages $41.
At the high end the 2003 Talbott, Monterey County Cuvée Cynthia averages 95 points and at $38 it is 27% of the average $143 price for a similar scoring wine earning a "Great Value" moniker. At $23 the 2004 Fess Parker, Ashley's Vineyard averages 92 points and is 39% the average price earning it a "Great Value". At $16 the 2004 Columbia Crest, Horse Heaven Hills Reserve averages 90 points and is 44% the average price earning it a "Great Value". At the value end of $7, the 2003 Columbia Crest, Columbia Valley Two Vines averages 87 and earns a 32% "Great Value" QPR.
