The best Costco wine for your money is usually a Kirkland Signature bottle, Costco’s own label. In 2026 reviews, Tastings.com gave eight Kirkland wines between 91 and 94 points at prices from about $6 to $23, including a 2025 Pinot Grigio at $5.59 and a 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape at about $21. This guide is for Costco members (and, in some states, non-members) who want a bottle that critics rate highly without paying for a famous label.

How we picked

We don’t taste the wines ourselves. Every pick has a published professional score for the exact vintage named, from Tastings.com, the review site of the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI), which scores wines on a 100-point scale. It is the only professional score we found for each of these wines, so the verdicts rest on that one score. Costco doesn’t list most of its wines with prices online, so, as our Blue Book Value method says for store guides, we use a dated price from a named source: the Costco price printed in each Tastings.com review, cross-checked with Reverse Wine Snob where it reported one. We then applied our thresholds: 93 points or more is a Great Value at $30 or less, 90 to 92 points is a Great Value at $20 or less and a Good Value up to $30.

Note: Prices and the wine range differ by warehouse and by state, and some Kirkland wines sell out within weeks. Check the vintage on the bottle: a score applies to one year only.

White and sparkling picks

Kirkland Signature Pinot Grigio, Friuli Grave DOC 2025

  • Score: 94 points, Tastings.com (reviewed June 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $5.59, the Costco price in that review.
  • Verdict: Great Value.

This is the highest score on the page at the lowest price, and our pick if you only buy one bottle. Friuli Grave is a DOC (Italy’s protected appellation system) in the northeast of the country. Tastings.com’s reviewer describes a dry but fruity white with jasmine, white peach and yuzu, and compares its structure to Sauvignon Blanc and its scent to Riesling. It suits barbecue chicken, pad thai or chicken fajitas.

Kirkland Signature Prosecco Rosé DOC 2025

  • Score: 92 points, Tastings.com (reviewed May 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $7, the Costco price in that review.
  • Verdict: Great Value.

The reviewer found pink grapefruit, cherry blossom and elderflower in a soft, light sparkler with a crisp finish. In our view it is one of the easiest party wines to buy by the case. For more bubbles under $20, see our guide to the best Prosecco under $20.

Kirkland Signature Moscato d’Asti DOCG 2025

  • Score: 92 points, Tastings.com (reviewed March 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $7, the Costco price in that review.
  • Verdict: Great Value.

Moscato d’Asti is a gently fizzy, moderately sweet white from Piedmont, and this one is only 5% alcohol. The reviewer describes lilies, peach and lime with soft acidity. Pour it with a strawberry tart or fruit salad, or with lightly spicy food.

Kirkland Signature Estate Chablis Premier Cru 2024

  • Score: 91 points, Tastings.com (reviewed June 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $23, the Costco price in that review.
  • Verdict: Good Value.

Chablis is Chardonnay from northern Burgundy, usually crisp and mineral rather than buttery. The reviewer notes flint, pear and citrus zest, with some oak in the background. Chowhound reported in 2024 that Kirkland’s Premier Cru Chablis has come from Pierre Brissy, the winemaker for Jean-Marc Brocard; the article doesn’t name a vintage, so check the back label. Try it with roast chicken, shellfish or creamy pasta.

Red picks

Kirkland Signature Estate Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2023

  • Score: 92 points, Tastings.com (reviewed July 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $15 to $16: $15 in the Tastings.com review, and $15.99 at Costco according to Reverse Wine Snob (published July 2026, updated October 2026).
  • Verdict: Great Value.

Our pick for red value: a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux for the price of an ordinary supermarket Merlot. Reverse Wine Snob reports that it comes from Vignobles Bardet, a Saint-Emilion estate founded in 1704, imported by Misa Imports. Tastings.com’s reviewer describes a medium-to-full red with black raspberry, chocolate and cedar. Serve it with pot roast, steak or beef stew.

Kirkland Signature Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2023

  • Score: 91 points, Tastings.com (reviewed August 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $17, the Costco price in that review.
  • Verdict: Great Value.

This is Sangiovese from the Chianti Classico zone of Tuscany. The reviewer found a bright, tangy Sangiovese with dried cherry, cigar box and black tea. Its acidity makes it a natural with tomato sauces, pizza and grilled meats.

Kirkland Signature Barolo DOCG 2022

  • Score: 92 points, Tastings.com (reviewed April 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $19, the Costco price in that review.
  • Verdict: Great Value.

Barolo is Piedmont’s most famous red, and Reverse Wine Snob points out that it is rarely found under $20. The Tastings.com reviewer describes plum, dried roses and forest floor, and says it is already approachable. It needs food: braised beef, mushroom risotto or aged cheese.

Kirkland Signature Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2024

  • Score: 93 points, Tastings.com (reviewed June 2026), the only professional score we found.
  • Price: about $21: $20.99 in the Tastings.com review, the same figure Reverse Wine Snob reported in May 2026 (up $2 from the 2023).
  • Verdict: Great Value.

Reverse Wine Snob reports that third-generation Rhône winemaker Guillaume Gonnet makes this wine, and that Costco switched to him with the 2018 vintage. The reviewer describes a full-bodied red with brandied cherries, roses and blueberries, at 15% alcohol. We’d save it for a holiday ham, lasagna or meat loaf.

Who makes Kirkland Signature wine?

Costco doesn’t publish a list, and there is no single producer. What is reported:

  • California wines: Chowhound reported in December 2024, citing a Moneywise search of the federal TTB label registry, that E. & J. Gallo has made Kirkland Signature’s California wines.
  • Rhône and Bordeaux: Reverse Wine Snob names Guillaume Gonnet for the 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Vignobles Bardet for the 2023 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
  • Other bottles: Chowhound notes that the winemaker’s name often appears on the front or back label. That is the quickest way to check the bottle in your cart.

How buying wine at Costco works

  • Membership: Normally you need a membership to shop. In some states, state law means warehouse clubs can’t limit alcohol sales to members. CT Mirror reported in October 2025 that Connecticut law requires alcohol retailers to sell to the general public, and that many Connecticut warehouses have a separate liquor entrance for anyone 21 or older. Consumer Reports published a longer list of states back in 2009, but it is old and Vermont’s liquor agency disputed it, so call your warehouse before you go.
  • Not every warehouse sells wine. Consumer Reports noted that not all locations carry alcohol, so check before a special trip.
  • Prices vary. The same Kirkland bottle can cost a little more or less depending on the warehouse and state.
  • New vintages arrive often. When the year on the bottle changes, the score above no longer applies.

How to find more good-value wine

  • Look for the appellation, not just the brand. Kirkland’s best scores come from classic regions such as Barolo, Saint-Emilion and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, sold well below the usual price for those names.
  • Read shelf scores carefully. A tag should name the publication and the vintage. Our guide to wine ratings explains what 90 points means and why one critic’s 90 isn’t another’s.
  • Compare with other stores. Our guides to the best Trader Joe’s wine and the best wine under $10 use the same method.

Costco also sells a Kirkland Signature Prosecco Superiore from Valdobbiadene (a DOCG, the higher of Prosecco’s two tiers) that Tastings.com scored 94 points at $7 in an August 2025 review; check that the bottle on your shelf is the same release.

We recheck these prices at least every three months and replace picks when a new vintage changes the score.

Can you buy wine at Costco without a membership?

Do Costco wine prices vary by store?

Yes. Prices and the wine range differ by warehouse and by state, and some Kirkland wines sell out quickly. Treat the prices on this page as a guide, not a quote.
